Royal Sutton Coldfield Town Council is pleased to announce that Councillor Cindy Yip was elected as Mayor of the Royal Town of Sutton Coldfield at last night’s (13 May) Annual Council Meeting.
Councillor Yip has lived in Sutton Coldfield for 7 years and has served on Sutton Coldfield Town Council since 2022 representing the Walmley and Minworth Ward.
Married to her husband Alex, Councillor Yip has two young children, Ezri and Harvey who she is proud to raise in the Royal Town of Sutton Coldfield. An active member of her local church, St John’s in Walmley, with a keen interest in exploring different cuisines, family walks and video gaming.
Following her appointment, the new Mayor of the Royal Town said “I want to thank my colleagues on the Town Council for entrusting me with this civic role. This is a continuation from my role last year as Deputy Mayor which I absolutely loved. I can’t wait to meet as many people and visit as many orgainsations as possible during my term in office.”
Outgoing Mayor, John Perks handing over the Mayoral chain, reflected on his busy term and extended his sincere thanks to the people of Sutton Coldfield for their friendship and hospitality over the past year.
The Mayor will be supported by the newly elected Deputy Mayor, Dr Nitish Raut.
