Joy has been part of the YMCA for 7 years, the last 2 of which has been as CEO. She started in the youth and community field by volunteering at youth clubs and playschemes and then pursued a career in working with young people.

Joy has held various senior positions in training and development and as a Youth Officer in Birmingham City Council. She has been a school governor, chaired partnership initiatives, supported non-profit grassroots organisations.

 
Joy chose to work for YMCA because she is passionate about young people, building their self-esteem and confidence through adolescence and adulthood.

Young people need to thrive and grow as citizens and future leaders. The Plan for Neighborhoods Board will give Joy the chance to contribute to development, drawing upon existing community strengths to build more resilient and sustainable communities within the whole town.
