As we approach the end of 2024, I would like to wish everyone in the Royal Town of Sutton Coldfield my warmest wishes for the festive season.
Since becoming Mayor, I have met with lots of amazing residents, volunteers, community groups and businesses who do such brilliant work for their local community. I have attended some wonderful events and it’s been fantastic to meet so many people and learn more about the incredible work being done within our Royal Town.
Photography is one of my hobbies and this year, I was delighted to select the winning entries for the ‘Soul of Sutton’ photography competition launched by the Town Council. The competition invited residents to share their favourite images that captured the essence and ‘soul’ of Sutton Coldfield. The beautiful image featured above is one of the winning entries, created by the very talented Owen Griffiths. The photo was taken in Sutton Park while Owen was out capturing images of trains in the snow when a robin unexpectedly landed right in front of the camera, creating the perfect opportunity for this stunning shot. It captures the essence of this season so wonderfully it seemed only right to accompany this year’s Christmas message.
I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who will be working over the festive period to keep us safe and care for us. This includes doctors, nurses, hospital staff, carers and emergency services. I’d also like to thank everyone in voluntary organisations who give their time and effort to support those for whom Christmas can be a difficult or lonely time.
Lastly, my wife Sarah and I would like to wish you all a peaceful and joyous Christmas and a healthy and happy New Year!
