Janet Cairns, Mayor of the Royal Town of Sutton Coldfield

I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and I know that my sadness will be shared across the Royal Town of Sutton Coldfield.

During her long and extraordinary life her remarkable sense of duty, grace and dignity earnt The Queen the love and admiration of people of all ages and backgrounds within her Kingdom, the Commonwealth and beyond. Her death will be a source of grief to the Royal Family and an irreplaceable loss to us all.

In mourning her passing, let us be thankful for her very many years of dedicated service to our country and for the stability that her leadership has provided during a period of great change.

Arrangements are being made for the people of the Royal Town of Sutton Coldfield to pay their respects following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Books of condolence will be opened at Holy Trinity Parish Church for the whole community to visit and share their feelings at this sad time.

We pray for King Charles III as he takes up the duties and responsibilities of State.
