Remembrance Sunday 2024 Commemorations

Civic dignitaries, veterans, community leaders and residents gathered in the Royal Town of Sutton Coldfield on Sunday 10 November 2024 to remember those who have lost their lives in conflict.

The commemorations began with a Remembrance Day service, led by Rev’d Canon Becky Stephens at Holy Trinity Parish Church. Dr. Nasir Awan MBE, Deputy Lieutenant, Cllr John Perks, Mayor of the Royal Town of Sutton Coldfield, The Rt. Honourable Andrew Mitchell MP, representatives of The Royal British Legion and serving personnel at the Royal Centre for Defence Medicine based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, joined Sea, Army and Navy cadets, together with representatives of the Emergency Services, Education, Voluntary, Community and Faith Groups.

The Church Service was followed by a Parade to the War Memorial at King Edwards Square, to join the nation in the annual two minute silence to remember those who have fallen.

Cllr John Perks, Mayor of the Royal Town of Sutton Coldfield said, “It was a great privilege to have been a part of the Remembrance Sunday commemorations. This day holds deep importance for our Royal Town, bringing the community together to honour those we have lost. I was heartened to see so many people paying their respects.”
