On Sunday 9th November, The Royal Town united to mark Remembrance Sunday with a church service and parade .
Organised by Royal Sutton Coldfield Town Council, in partnership with the Royal British Legion and Sutton Coldfield Sea Cadets, the commemorations brought together civic dignitaries, The Royal British Legion, veterans, The Royal Centre for Defence, cadets, schools, youth and community groups and the wider community who gathered to pay tribute to those who gave their lives in service.
Reverend Becky Reeve led a Service of Remembrance at Holy Trinity Parish Church.
Following the service, Civic Dignitaries including Deputy Lieutenant Abbie Vlahakis, The High Sheriff of The West Midlands Mark Smith, Mayor of the Royal Town of Sutton Coldfield Cllr Cindy Yip, and The Rt Honorable Sir Andrew Mitchell MP along with representatives of the British Legion, were led by the Sutton Coldfield Sea Cadets to participate in a National two minute silence and wreath laying ceremony at the King Edward Square War Memorial.
Speaking after the event, Cllr Yip said “Remembrance Day is a time to remember all those who have been affected and continue to be affected by war and conflict across the world today. It is a privilege to be representing the Royal Town on such an important day as we come together in remembrance.”
