Royal Sutton Coldfield Town Council continues to support Keep Britian Tidy’s ‘Great British Spring Clean’ a nationwide, environmental campaign which promotes keeping our streets and green spaces free of litter.
The Town Council supports the annual campaign by providing litter-picking equipment and encouraging residents, community groups, faith organisations and schools to take part and pledge to pick up a bag of litter – or more. This year marks the 10th milestone year of the campaign, which will take place from 21 March – 6 April and will focus on the theme of #lovewhereyoulive.
Litter-picking is a simple action which can make an immediate and visible difference to the environment where we live, work and visit. The Town Council is urging people to show their love for the area they live by helping clean up and preserve the spaces and places which mean so much to the local community.
Cllr John Perks, the Mayor of the Royal Town of Sutton Coldfield, said:
“Great British Spring Clean is a great opportunity to get involved in your local area and help care for our community spaces. We are urging the Sutton Coldfield community to get involved in the campaign. This can be by conducting group litter picks or sharing your support on social media. Even a small act, can have a significant impact.
I would like to express my thanks to the many wonderful community groups who already work tirelessly to keep our Royal Town a cleaner and safer environment for residents and visitors. In particular, Sutton Coldfield Litter Action Group, a truly outstanding voluntary group who have recently been nominated for the prestigious King’s Award for Voluntary Service (KAVS) 2025, the highest accolade bestowed by the Monarch on organisations within the voluntary sector.”
If you are interested in organising a group litter-pick or showing your support for the campaign, then please get in touch. We can support events by offering a grab bag of equipment that includes litter pickers, tabards, gloves and bin bags/bag hoops. All equipment is available on a first come, first served basis.
